I'm thinking about getting a few hens - I think it would be lovely to gather your own fresh eggs everyday. I love these beautiful little hen houses - now it's just a matter of convincing Mr Brabourne that this is a good idea and then to pick a spot for the girls to live. Wish me luck!

We are looking into getting a few hens...I'm a girl from upstate NY who spent many a day at the 4H Fair and I guess I never lost that desire for a farm. We are on our way!! Good luck to you!!
ReplyDeleteTHose are some seriously nice hen houses. Good time to be a hen. I would love to have some hens also. xo Terri

ReplyDeleteGreat idea! Having fresh eggs would be amazing. Also, the chicks are soooo cute!
ReplyDeleteThis post is fun Leigh...my husband wants chickens too but I don't - I am worried all that cock a doodle doing would wake me up far to early! xv
ReplyDeleteWas just talking about hens yesterday. Wondering which type are the best layers. Apparently they are great to have wandering round the vegi patch, because they eat all the bugs and fertilise while they're at it.
ReplyDeleteLove those hen houses.
I love this post. What fabulous hen houses, especially photo #2. We had two chickens years ago while living in the country outside of Seattle. We loved them. One in fact would sit on our shoulder & eat pretzels & sip beer. Maybe that would appeal to your spouse?! Ha! Best of luck to you, I am rooting you on from here in Houston.

ReplyDeleteGood luck! I've been working on my husband for quite a while with no luck yet. I hope you are better at persuasion than I seem to be on this topic.
ReplyDeleteLove your blog!
ReplyDeleteI would love to live somewhere I could have chickens. Your post reminded me of these http://www.omlet.us/store/store.php?cat=Eglu&sub=Cube&step=run
They're like retro chicken campers.
I love the way you demonstrate that a chicken hutch/coop doesn't have to cause an aesthetic migraine. As we consider the possibility of having some game at Willowbrook Park, your blog gives us some food for thought.... David.
