A Summer's Day @ Brabourne Farm

It's been a lovely weekend in the garden.  The lawn has been cut, the hedges trimmed, the sweet peas are covered in flowers (just proves they grow just as well if planted in spring), the roses are blooming again after all the hot weather before Christmas, the baby eggplants have appeared, the lemon and apple trees in the kitchen garden are coming along well (fingers crossed the birds don't spot the apples), we picked our first corn (yum yum) and the basil is ready for pesto making.  And to make it just perfect, we had a lovely thunderstorm and rain last night - gardener's heaven!

  2. Wow! I wish I was there right now! I have had an ache for summer lately, what with all this snow and freezing weather in Massachusetts. Your farm and gardens are breathtaking. You are very blessed to be surrounded by such beauty! Never been to Australia, but would love to visit!

  3. Oh it is heaven Leigh. Pure heaven. Paradise, your little spot! Hoping for a thunderstorm here tonight. The 8 cubic metres!!! of soil on our front footpath killed all our turf so we laid more yesterday. Rain please. Enjoy your Sunday in your beautiful garden! A-M xx

  4. It looks so lovely in the photos but I'm sure it's even more stunning in 'real life'...the smell of freshly mown lawns, the sweet fragrance of roses, the fresh air, just divine Leigh.

  8. Hello Leigh, I've just discovered your lovely blog and will enjoy visiting regularly. I live in NE Victoria; what State are you in?

Your garden is so beautiful. I'm waiting for my eggplant fruit to appear; have plenty of flowers. My basil is doing well and I also make pesto - I'll visit your other blog to see if you have a recipe, to compare notes. I'll be drying tomatoes today; we have hundreds!

    Enjoy your Sunday!

  12. WOW - I'm blown away by the beauty of it all!! I am loving having a garden but it is non-stop work, not that I care as it brings me such satisfaction. Do you do all the work yourself as it looks massive?
    Cheers, Sarah

  14. Stunning Leigh - especially at this time of year!! I've just come in from doing some hand watering because its going to be 42 or something here today, i'm just about ready to give up on the annuals for this season and let them go.

I'm so ready for summer to end, lots of projects i'm contract managing are trying my patience too in this weather - 100's of 1,000's of dollars of new turf and plants cooking everyday!!

So refreshing to see a lovely slice of heaven like your garden still blooming so beautifully!!

  27. Sounds like your weekend was perfect Leigh & how could it not in those truly magical surroundings @ Brabourne Farm. Loved your note about your Sweet Peas - I'll have to just find the right moment to drop that little pearl into conversation with the disbelieving MOTH!

  28. Gorgeous, gorgeous, gorgeous Leigh...a glorious glimpse of summer to brighten my winter gardening day in England...now the snow has melted and the temperature rose to 8 degrees today (!) it was time to do some cutting back ready for the appearance of bulbs in a few weeks...everything is so bare and lifeless...thank you so much for giving me a burst of summer sun...Susie x

  30. I absolutely ADORE your garden!
And there is nothing better than home-made pesto - but in my household, no matter what quantities I make, it just never lasts for more than a day...

  31. I am new to your blog but as the comments above will stipulate, I'm blown away too. We in Maryland are shoveling out from several very serious snow storms which shut down the federal government for a week, so seeing your lovely garden makes my heart sing. Thank you so much for taking the time and trouble to brighten my day. Ann

  32. Reading about your garden (in all the posts you mentioned and linked back to) is amazing. I had no idea that it was this big and fabulous.
You have done a huge job and I can see all the hours of love and labour that have gone into it.

    Thanks for sharing.

    xx Charlotta

P.S. Where in Australia are you love?
