I love open shelves, too. But when we built our dream home out in the country I discovered how very much dust would accumulate on open shelves - quickly and repeatedly! Unless I want to spend my life cleaning , only a very few pieces stay out on the open shelves with most of my china and vases behind cupboard doors(sigh).
How beautiful white china is! It really looks nice when they are all together like that. I don't have open shelves because like Linda said, they can hold a lot of dust. But they are sure beautiful!
I adore the look of open shelving, the first and fifth photos are simply stunning. It makes the room appear much larger to me instead of an enclosed cabinet.
And they are all so wonderfully tidy!
beautiful! i've been working on displaying some of my pieces in the kitchen. thanks for the inspiration!
gorgeous, especially when mixed with ironstone!i spy the lovely trina's shelves in there, love her style. julesx
Oh I agree, I'm going to do this in the kitchen, have one wall with all our plates, cups etc.xoxo
I so agree. Why hide such lovely dishes- flaunt them! Especially love the second pic with the red accents...Karen
I love the first two images!
Such loveliness! I adore all white dishes in open shelves. Thanks for the breath of fresh air!
We worked in open shelves when we remodeled the kitchen...and even though our space is tight, I love the display area. My sweetie's late mother was a potter, and we usually have her handiwork on display. smiles.
I adore plate racks and platters - thank you!!! xo Terri
I agree, get it out and use it. There's nothing lovelier than old china and glassware.
I love plate racks too Leigh. Recently at the Beach House in NZ the plate rack there was amazing!
They look so pretty with the collections of china.
Lovely racks; full of wonderful dishes beautifully arranged, so they don't look messy
oh I looove open shelving... but what do you do with the dust? maybe a good alternative could be glass doors? I know it's not the same, but can help to keep dust a bit away. don't you think, darling?
Oh, my...just found this beautiful blog. And the 4th image is ME; a tad less perfect. I'll be back!
This is exactly what I'm planning for my guest cottage kitchen. Love the open shelves. It also forces you to keep the space organized!
Does anyone know if the plates in the first photo (with the framed sofa underneath) are vintage ironstone or something new that I have yet to discover? THANKS!
