In the Garden @ Brabourne Farm

After what seems like the longest winter ever, summer has finally arrived .... warm/hot mornings and afternoon thunderstorms .... the perfect growing weather!  Today's jobs - plant tomato seedlings (the new trellis was installed yesterday), weed the new perennial border, hedge trimming, mowing, plant peonies .... garden heaven!

  1. Wow, look at the hedges. I love parterre gardens. Looks like lots of work but very worth it. I would find a comfy chair and sit and read all day - is it a walled garden?

  2. Garden heaven indeed Leigh! Your garden is a wonder. The new tomato trellis is a beauty! My tomatoes only get a pot and a bamboo stick to lean on! They're doing well though. Have a lovely day outside..Rachaelxx

  3. Leigh,
What can I say , beautiful images as usual.
I love the trellis , I might show hubby & see if he can make a little mini trellis for my 4 tomato plants. He will be thrilled (maybe).
I have been trying to find one of those white bird houses here in Qld for 2 years now. Every time I go down to Bowral , there they are , just to big to take back on the plane. I am determined to get one now I have seen yours again. Enjoy your day in the garden.
    Thankyou the every inspiring Leigh

  4. Oh the beautiful green. I love the garden spaces. How many hrs you must spend trimming those boxwood'ish plants. Thank you for sharing your beautiful garden! What a dreamy space.

  5. Autumn here, terrible weather(rain/wind/cold), winter on the doorstep, I'm more of a spring and summer person. Wish I was on the other side of the world now!
Have a great time and enjoy the garden!

  8. Hello!
    What a wonderful garden!
Here in Brazil we're in spring yet, but the winds of the summer are showing its rays now. Warm mornings, hot afternoons and raining in the evenings...

  10. You have the most beautiful garden!! Do you ever have it open for viewing? I am about to embark on designing and planting out our tiny courtyard. Just love your formal layout. Very beautiful. Please post photos of it more often :)))

  12. Hi Leigh,

It's hard to put into words how stunning your gorgeous garden is. It's such a credit to you both. It's hard to comprehend that not such a long time ago it was just as empty paddock. Did you do all the layout yourselves? Are you professional landscape gardeners??? That's the one thing I tend to struggle with, the garden, that being said it is so satisfying at the end of the day to stand back and see what you have achieved. You inspire me to do better and hopefully one day mine will be half as nice as yours!! Have a wonderful day doing all your jobs. The weather here today isn't very nice, so I might get out and dodge the raindrops a little later in the day!! Will call in again soon.
    Take care

  19. "Garden heaven", understatement.

Wish I could smell everything in your garden, not just the peonies.

  22. Gorgeous photos from your garden! I envy you that you're having summer... in Sweden we're just entering into winter and we're having some snow. But there's always Christmas to look forward to at least :)
    Have a lovely day!

  23. Great seeing your garden with all those flowers rigth now, when autumn has arrived in here (with lots of rain, wind and grey skies...). I always love late spring when all is in bloom. Thanks for showing!
