Mid Summer @ Brabourne Farm

The glasshouse  - I'm still waiting for the shelving (only a few more weeks) and I've been experimenting with shadecloth ideas.  I don't like the covers supplied by the glasshouse companies so I've come up with my own design.  Once the shelves have arrived, they'll be painted and then the potting can begin!

It's agapanthus time - they're the main colour in the garden at the moment and they look fabulous.

The roses have been very unpredictable this year with not a lot of flowers .... it's probably because we've had so much cold weather.  Summer seems to have forgotten us but at least the garden's had its first year of decent rain.

  1. Wonderful, wonderful garden!! Have fun with the glasshouse :)
Mass plantings look so good. Have begun (albeit slowly) to build a little more structure in my overgrown 1/2 acre. Concentrating on hydrangeas at present.
And yes, not much summer here in the Dandenongs either.

  2. Curious where you are located & what zone you are in? We don't have anythingbloomong yet & agapanthus is grown more as an annual here - your grounds are amazing!

  14. Hi Leigh,
Your garden is delightful! We have agapanthus as well, blue and white ones. And it's amazing how they can look when planted on mass. Although our garden bed of agapanthus are not as big as yours!! Our agapanthus are quite special to us too....when my Pa had to sell his house and move into a retirement home, I grabbed heaps of his agapanthus and re-planted them into our garden, which they absolutely took off!! It's nice to have a little bit of my Pa with us all the time!

  20. Found your blog from searching for Henry Clarke (whom I LOVE too!). Your garden is beautiful. I love agapanthus and miss them terribly since moving to the US. Maybe I will give them a try here - Texas might accommodate them?? Not sure where in Australia you are - maybe haven't read enough yet? I'm originally from Toowoomba, and also have family in Brisbane (thankfully all OK). Hope you have not been flooded too. Love your blog, just started my own too - very addictive :) http://sweetsouthernsymphony.blogspot.com/
