In the Frame

One of the huge loves of my life is black and white photography. Photos can be displayed anywhere in the house and everything doesn't have to match. What could be better - your own beautiful collection on view for the world to see!

Outdoor Comfort

There's something lovely about outdoor furniture used inside, especially if it's old and just a little bit weathered.

On the Shelf

.
I think a dresser full of beautiful platters, plates, glass and silver is just about the loveliest thing to have in a kitchen. Sadly our kitchen doesn't have a dresser but I can dream .... my next house maybe! (please, not a word to Mr Brabourne - I've promised him this is our forever house and I don't want to cause him unnecessary anxiety)

Hooked on Hat Racks

Here's a small collection of hat racks and hooks - I have quite a few hooks throughout the house and am always on the lookout for something old and unusual.
.
Instead of having a wardrobe in one of our guest bedrooms, I used hooks with coat hangers - they look lovely and work really well as most "guests" only stay overnight or for a few days and don't really need much hanging space.

First Impressions

Our entry/hallway is still in its early stages so I'm always looking for ideas. We have most of the furniture but still need the finishing touches - paintings, umbrella and walking stick "holder", lamps, rug ... the list (and hunt) goes on. Love some of the ideas in these hallways - they give you a lovely idea of what the rest of the house would be like and make you want to see more!

Light and Airy

What a fabulous house this is! The ceilings are wonderful - the same open style seems to be used throughout. I love the neutral colour scheme and the brilliant chandelier in the living room.

I'm away for a few days - back at the end of the week. See you then!

Garden - Before and After

Before - shortly after the house was finished, Mr Brabourne taking Jock for a walk. It looks like a moonscape - it's only when you look at photos that you realise how much things have changed.

After - what a difference seven years makes!

Same view - different angle.

Before - the dovecote in the kitchen and rose garden.

After - the dovecote had lavender around it but I took it out a few weeks ago and I'm now trying to think of a suitable replacement. Coastal rosemary maybe?
