Oh, I am so sorry Leigh. I've experienced a pet dying and its not very pleasant. We have two miniature schnauzers and the thought of them not being with us, would be like a limb was missing! My thoughts are with you. Take care ... and I'm sure Archie and Dougal will miss Chomper a lot! xx
I just found your beautiful blog. I am so sorry to hear of the passing of your lab. I have a beloved golden retriever, so I can image how hard this must be. Wishing you sweet memories of a cherished friend.
Hi Leigh, I'm so sorry to hear of your loss ... but hopefully having Archie and Dougal around will make it a lil' easier.I'd love to share shomething I once read ,going through a similar loss as yours. Its a poem called...'The Rainbow Bridge' Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.
When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge. There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together. There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.
All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor; those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by. The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.
They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent; His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.
You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.
I read your blog all the time and even though I haven't commented before, I just wanted to tell you how sorry I am about the loss of your sweet Chomper.
Leigh - my thoughts and my heart goes out to you. Being a mother to two dogs myself, and around dogs all of my life, losing one is one too many. They truly are a member of the family. "Dogs' lives are too short. Their only fault, really." ~Agnes Sligh Turnbull
Oh Leigh, my heart breaks for you! Losing a pet is never easy, they are members of the family and each special in their own way. I will send healing thoughts your way as you mourn the loss of your faithful companion Chomper.
Oh Leigh, so sad to hear you have lost a very precious member of the family. I will be thinking of you...such a sad time. Little Molly sends a lick on the nose. Rosie
If it be I grow frail and weak, And pain should wake me from my sleep Then you must do what must be done for this battle must be won.
You will be sad, I understand Don't let your grief then stay your hand For this day, more than all the rest Your love and friendship, stand the test.
We've had so many happy years What is to come will hold no fears, You'd not want me to suffer so, When the time come, please let me go.
I know in time you too will see It is a kindness you do to me, Although my tail, it's last has waved, From pain and suffered, I've been saved.
Do not grieve that it should be you, Who has to decide this thing to do, We've been so close, we too, these years, Don't let your heart hold any tears.
Dear Leigh, So very very sorry to hear about your dear Chomper. The only way I know how to get through losing such a sweet animal is to keep telling myself that they go before us because if we go first then they are lost and don't know where to go or who to turn to. You see, you will always remain in Chomper's heart just as he will always remain in yours. And like Rajee Sood so kindly says...you will meet again at Raibow Bridge. I will keep you, your family and Chomper in my "doggy prayers"...Lisa
Oh Rajee's post was so beautiful Leigh. I hope it gave you comfort at this sad time. We still miss our old girl Miss Chloe very much & your post brought back many happy memories of her. Love Millie x
